Episode 11 of Wicked Good Pulls is live, and this week the guys are pivoting from Whatnot card selling strategies to preparing for the end of the world.
The AI Uprising & Pop-Punk Playlists
Mike is officially ready to go to war with artificial intelligence. He airs his grievances about his smart speaker interrupting his thoughts and completely ruining his 2000s pop-punk running playlists, featuring bands like Simple Plan (Where I belong feat. We The Kings & What If) Joe, on the other hand, is trying to stay on the robots’ good side for when they eventually take over, buttering up his AI with compliments.
The “Rolling Profit” Method
On the business side, Mike breaks down his cash flow strategy, which he proudly calls the “rolling profit” method. He uses a separate bank account and a dedicated credit card to track his expenses and profits in specific batches. Matt, meanwhile, prefers the old-school method of just carrying around a giant wad of cash. The guys also joke about the legally questionable strategy of using their kids as tax write-offs for their trading card businesses.
Ice Cube & Cinderella Man Trivia
Taking a break from cards, the brothers debate Ice Cube’s transition from his authentic NWA roots to starring in family movies like Are We There Yet?. (Correction: We know Ice Cube didn’t write Boyz n the Hood) Mike also drops a wild piece of trivia: rapper Connor Price was actually a child actor who starred alongside Russell Crowe in Cinderella Man and stole sausage.
Surviving the Apocalypse
The conversation takes a wild turn as the guys debate who would actually survive if the grid went down and they were thrown into a dystopian wasteland. Joe is immediately put in charge of building the shelter due to his carpentry skills. Mike claims he is practicing starting fires with just his bare hands and wood. Matt thinks his flea market bartering skills will save him, but admits he would probably just want to order Uber Eats. They also mercilessly roast their sister, deciding her only survival skills would be “decorating the shelter” and happily petting chickens right next to the slaughter table.
The $2 Start
Finally, Mike shifts his auction strategy to start bids at $2 instead of $3. He is also testing the waters by adding players like Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter to his inventory to see if they pull in new buyers.
